OUR HISTORY

Leading the Way, Making a Difference

The GRABSUM School Inc., formerly known as Candelaria Kiddie Learning Center was founded in 1996 by MRS. MERCEDES VILLAPANDO PIOL, a retired Master Teacher II of Candelaria Elementary School under the umbrella program of NFWC. It started as a preschool learning center catering 35 pupils on its first year of operation. On its second year, the enrolment doubled its enrolment to 75 pupils (Nursery, Kindergarten, Preparatory Level).

Due to the school’s positive impact on the learning and formative development of the pupils as exemplified by gradual increase in enrolment on year 1998, expansion was done to accommodate more pupils. Year 1999, enrolment rose higher so the corporation looked for a bigger place. In response to the high enrolment rate, the small classrooms were then transferred to a new two-story building situated in School Park Subd. A three block away from the original location in June, 2000. It was during that time NFWC advised that all schools under its umbrella program had to seek recognition from the DECS. In 2002 GSI applied for government permit from the DECS which was then immediately approved because of its good performance. The year after (2003), by virtue of the authority vested by Republic Act No. 2706, as amended and Batas Pambansa Bilang 232 (Education Act of 1982) Dr. Belen N. Magsino, Regional Director, Department of Education Culture and Sports hereby grant its Government Recognition No K-006 s. 2000 to GRABSUM School, Inc.

That was the start of GSI continuous expansion as its enrolment rose higher in the succeeding years. Enrollees came from Candelaria, Tiaong, San Pablo City, Sariaya and San Juan Batangas. The Curriculum for Complete Grade I-VI started with Government Recognition No. E-040 S. 2000 under Paraluman R. Giron, DECS Regional Director, was once more granted with her new name, GRABSUM which was taken from the initials of the seven Angels of the week namely; Gabriel, Raphael, Ariel, Baraquiel, Sealthiel, Uriel and Michael. The students were officially called “Angelicos”. Being guided by the seven angels the school gained successful achievements in all areas of learning enhanced by the full support of the family being the first members of the school board Marigold P. Bulahan as the President of the Board; Noraini P. Cahigas as the Vice – President; Rogener V. Piol and Darleen V. Piol as members of the Board. Ma’am Piol acts as the School Administrator.

Years after of successful administration, the family gave its rights and privileges to one among their parents. Mrs. Charito A. Seraspe whom they trusted to preserve the high standards of the school. MRS. JENNIFER D. SOTELO one of the most trusted teachers of GRABSUM was being trained that time by MRS. PIOL as a future administrator. She was given chances to express her abilities and potentials in managing an institution. Through her commitment and dedication in teaching profession, she established the SECONDARY EDUCATION PROGRAM, the school indeed became successful. At present she is the principal of the Junior High School department.

After couple of years, GRABSUM School Inc. continuously   renders high quality education. They decided to open TESDA programs under the initiative of MR. VITO D ALCANTARA.
